About Me

Wow, where do I start? Well let’s go all the way back to where it started! When I was a child I used to look up to my dad who is a pharmacist. I loved climbing the big chair he had at work and pretended I was the boss. He always looked professional and responsible from behind that desk, and that idea started growing on me until I realized it was not a childish dream anymore. I actually wanted to become a pharmacist like my father. His interactions with patients were always warm and unique; for most of them my father was the closest contact with medical care they could afford, and that had a positive impact on me.

After my eighteenth birthday, I made a decision that would change my life for good. I moved from Ivory Coast, a developing country in West Africa to the United States. I was determined to fulfill my dream of becoming a pharmacist in the country of endless opportunities. This has been the hardest and most rewarding decision of my life. The road to success was not easy but very worthwhile. My experiences on my journey to becoming a pharmacist have strengthened my character and given me an appreciation for the diversity in the healthcare field.

My idea behind this blog is to:

  • Provide some advice and share my experience as a pharmacy student and a pharmacist having a different cultural background. This blog’s aim is also to offer some interesting testimonies and advice from current pharmacy students and pharmacists from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds.

  • Highlight the obstacles faced by minority pharmacy students/pharmacists and emphasize the need for more diversity in the Pharmacy field. This will be done through several testimonies and guests posts.

  • Give some parenting tips from a new mom’s perspective, who is raising a child in a different country. Being away from your home town with a newborn baby can be a totally different experience from what most people usually imagine. Being a professional mom is not an easy task, but not impossible either. The merge between the two worlds is really rewarding at the end of the day.

  • Share my favorite natural products, of which I’m a big fan. I’ll provide some tips on how to make the most of what Mother Nature has to give. Sometimes the best solutions are at the reach of our hands and can be truly useful when combined correctly.

I would also love to learn about you and your experiences! So please don’t hesitate to let me know what you would like me to share here with you.  Will you join me in this adventure we call life? Welcome on board!
